UNESCO-APCEIU 9th Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED 2023

The UNESCO-APCEIU 9th Youth Leadership Workshop on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) is an annual program aimed at fostering young leaders’ understanding and skills in promoting global citizenship education and sustainable development. The program is organized by the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), a UNESCO Category II Centre based in Seoul, South Korea.

The 2023 workshop will be the ninth edition and will take place in Seoul, South Korea, from August 21 to 27, 2023. The theme of the workshop is “Building Sustainable and Inclusive Communities through GCED.” It will bring together 50 young leaders from around the world who are passionate about promoting GCED and achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During the one-week program, participants will engage in various activities, including lectures, group discussions, workshops, and field visits. They will also have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field of GCED, share their experiences, and collaborate with their peers to develop project proposals that promote GCED in their communities.

Overall, the UNESCO-APCEIU 9th Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED 2023 aims to empower young leaders with the knowledge, skills, and networks to become agents of positive change in their communities and beyond.

Applications are open for the UNESCO-APCEIU 9th Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED 2023. Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) has focused on youth empowerment through global citizenship education since 2015.

Every year, the Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED (Global Citizenship Education) has been held inviting 50 young leaders around the globe to discuss, share, exchange, network, and learn together. Serving as a venue for mutual growth and partnership, the Workshop has trained over 400 young changemakers in different parts of the world.

In 2023, APCEIU holds its 9th Youth Leadership Workshop on GCED under the theme of “Global citizenship and youth empowerment for inclusive futures for all”. The Workshop will invite active global citizens who aspire to work together to build a more inclusive society for all by combating inequality through innovation, commitment, solidarity, and a common vision and hope for a better future.

  • 19 – 22 April: (Self-paced & small group discussion) Pre-Workshop Study
  • 24 – 28 April: Online LIVE Workshop on “Global citizenship and youth empowerment for inclusive futures for all”

Eligibility for UNESCO-APCEIU 9th Youth Leadership Workshop

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Born between 1995 and 2004.
  • Citizens of the Official Development Aid (ODA) recipient countries.
  • Minimum 2 years of active experience in youth activities.
  • Completion of the e-learning course titled “GCED for Youth” on GCED Online Campus before the application deadline. Course Certificate must be attached to the application.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Application

The application must be submitted by April 9, 2023. Notification of selection will be sent by April 14, 2023, by email. All selected participants must register by April 16, 2023.
